The Triumph TR6 was the best selling Triumph Model in the marque's history. Good looks, performance, and handling, plus those big wheels and tires (for the day) made it a hit in the US!
This consignment car is a 1976 model, the last year for the TR6. It was replaced by the wedge-shaped TR7 the next year. It's powered by Triumph's 2.5-litre straight-6 with the US-spec dual Stromberg Carburetors. All TR6's came with an all-sycromesh 4-speed manual transmission. The TR6 is also well trimmed, with pile carpet on the floors and trunk, bucket seats, and a full complement of instrumentation on a handsome veneer dashboard. The TR6 also features semi-trailing arm independent rear suspension, rack and pinion steering and 15-inch wheels covering discs on the front and drums at the back.
The owner took this example, which had some body rust issues, and did a frame-off restoration of the body and interior in 2008. The owners says he spent $30,000 in restoration costs. The frame is solid, the suspension is tight and the engine and transmission work great. The carbs are nicely adjusted and it starts and runs smoothly. All gauges and lights work.
The car is ready for the road. The purchaser should consider a fresh set of tires since it's been several years since the restoration.
