1966 Chevy Covair Corsa Convertible

This 66 Corsa Convertible is considered to be the highpoint of
the Corvair marque. Built for the budget minded performance
enthusiast. The Corsa model was only produced for two years 1965
and 1966 but was pulled in 1967 to make room for the Camaro which
was introduced in 1967. It is estimated that only 850 Corsa
Convertibles with the Turbo option were built in 1966, of which
this is one.
This particular example began life as a rust–free black plate
California car that underwent a complete nut and bolt restoration
by noted Corvair specialist Don Magas of PA. The body had been
taken down to bare metal, windows out and restored with all the
original parts or NOS parts. Chrome, glass, paint and trim are
impeccable, and the undercarriage is as clean as the topside. This
is truly the most perfect example you’ll find.
GM was the first car company to offer turbo charging in a
production vehicle. This turbo charged air cooled flat six cylinder
motor produces 180hp which is a 40hp increase over the Corsa
engine. The transmission is a 4 speed Saginaw which was introduced
in the 1966 model. Which is why the 1966 is preferred over the 1965
Corsa’s
The car is also made especially unique as it has many rare and
desirable options, including telescopic steering, tinted glass,
AM/FM with Multiplex, rear mounted antenna and air
conditioning. Also have the original owner’s guide.
