The perfect Interceptor Convertible to drive and enjoy!
A collector’s dream!
Jensen Motors introduced the Interceptor in 1966 as a four
seater two door GT that replaced the C-V8 which featured a
fiberglass body with a Chrysler V8 drivetrain. The new model was
designed by Carrozzeria Touring and utilized traditional steel body
construction. Power was derived from again from a Chrysler V8, this
time the 383ci V8 engine. The Interceptor was instantly praised for
its unique styling that featured a rear glass hatchback and its
proven V8 performance struck a chord with those in the luxury GT
car market, especially when considering it cost over 50% more than
a Jaguar E-Type. The Interceptor would go through several slight
alterations during its production with the Series III model
debuting in 1971. The Series III Interceptor featured a slightly
restyled front end with additional standard features and the 440ci
V8 became the Interceptors engine of choice. 1974 Jensen unveiled
the Interceptor Convertible that featured a power folding top and
made the model more appealing to those accustomed to open air
motoring. By 1975 the worldwide economic recession had started to
have a downfall on the smaller manufactures. Jensen’s unwillingness
to compromise quality resulted with the company entering
receivership and automobile production ceased in 1976. The
combination of American performance, Italian design and Legendary
English coachwork was not necessarily a new idea by 1966, however
few would accomplish the legacy the Jensen Interceptor did with its
short 10 years of production. Today the Interceptor is regarded as
one of the best GT cars of all time with examples highly sought
after by collectors and enthusiasts.
