Vehicle Description
Early in the 50's, Chevrolet's trucks were called the Chevrolet
Task Force. They were Chevrolet's successor to the Advance Design
trucks. The Task Force Series ran from late 1955 (second series)
through 1959. At GMC locations, it was called the Blue Chip
Series.
The 1955 second series offered standard options and add-ons such as
12-volt electrical systems, the first V8 (the 265 cubic inch), and
fleet-side six-, seven-, and eight-foot length beds.
In 1956 they had a wider hood emblem, two-piece fender emblems that
were mounted above horizontal fender line, and it was the last year
for egg crate grille. With the exception of a few minor trim items,
1956 Chevrolet trucks remained the same as 1955 models. Base price
was $2,150, while a standard half-ton pickup listed at $1,670.
Cameo truck production for 1956 was 1,452.
What we would like to show you at Skyway Classics is a restored and
modified version of those trucks. It is a beauty and has been
upgraded with so many features we cannot list them all on this
page. Just by looking at the pictures you will see a beautiful
restored body painted in Orange/Copper with a finished step side
wood bed. The color matching bucket seat interior has everything
replaced like gauges, steering wheel, sound system, console, air
conditioning, and much, much more.
It is powered by a modified 350 cubic inch small block Chevy and
automatic trans with exhaust flowing out the duals in the rear, and
rides on large chrome 5 spoke mags and performance tires.
This 1956 Chevy 3100 at Skyway Classics is truly a show truck and
will win a trophy anywhere and is of such quality it will be a
