For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet 150 in Orange, California

Vehicle Description

Classic Car Marketing, Inc. Southern California’s premier marketing company is pleased to introduce this new listing offered for sale by one of our clients.

This 1957 Chevy 2 Door 150 Post is a true “Once was lost, now was found” drag car with a rich and iconic southern California history. The Pioneer I as she was called, was named for the Western High School Pioneers auto shop class taught by Mr. John Cesareo, “Mr. C”. In 1968 Mr. C secured the project car for $1 and a drag race car was born and built, and raced from 1969 to 1971 with students under the hood and behind the wheel. The race program ended in 1970 but the Pioneer I went on to race, driven by a former student, and win the 1971 Winternationals in M/Stock with 13 second blasts down the quarter-mile. It is believed to be the first high school drag race car in the USA to actually race at major tracks with a school name on it. The car then disappeared for years on end but Mr. C was relentless to find it again. He found the car neglected and weathered after sitting for 35 years, still in southern California, and he was able to secure the car again and spent 9 years on a complete frame off, nut and bolt beautiful restoration taking her back to her original racing glory but even better. With the original look, show quality paint and less than 100 miles on her since the recent restoration, she has a built 327 with an Edelbrock dual quad set-up, GM rear end, modified front suspension and stock rear suspension with ladder bars. Custom period correct interior by Jimmy Z, and a T-10 four speed transmission with a Hurst shifter. Vintage Centerline polished aluminum wheels with Mickey Thompson Drag tires all around finish off this slice of Americana history just right.

She has won 16 awards, including 2 at the Grand National Roadster Show and is a hit where ever she’s displayed. Just goes to show you that some oldies really are goodies.
