Vehicle Description
Cars with pedigrees get us excited here at Streetside Classics.
There are some cars where matching numbers are no big deal, but
when you're talking about a real-deal 1970 Pontiac GTO Judge loaded
with options, well, that gets more than a few hearts racing. That
kind of pedigree also pretty much ensures that this car will always
be in demand, and you can pick this one up for a reasonable price,
invest in it, and come out way ahead later.
Black on black is this car's original color combination, and when
was the last time you saw a black Judge? It's incredibly rare for
that reason alone. The paint is just OK, which is where you can
invest to take it up a notch, but even if you just want a driver,
this car won't look bad at the local cruise night. Please take a
few extra moments to notice the little things like panel gaps that
are very good, and nothing looks cooler than that big wing out
back. The Endura front bumper is where most of the issues lie, and
that shouldn't be a surprise, but the urethane itself is in good
condition and won't be hard to restore. The graphics are correct
and just pop off the black paint and the twin snorkels on the hood
for the Ram Air system work as advertised. And yes, that's a
hood-mounted tach, one of the coolest options ever.
Nice black interior upholstery keeps up the factory look, and it's
complete with bucket seats and a center console. Pontiac interiors
were some of the most functional places to be during the muscle car
era, but it's also a little upscale with a woodgrained wheel and
matching wooden shifter knob. The GTO Judge was an interesting mix
of performance and luxury aspirations, so there's woodgrain on the
dash and console right alongside the engine-turned panels that were
a staple of Pontiac performance for many years. This Goat is also
loaded with options, including factory A/C, tilt steering column,
8-track player, and a rather rare remote trunk opener. Black
carpets are protected by Pontiac-logo rubber floor mats, the door
panels are neatly trimmed, and the headliner is taut and
wrinkle-free. The trunk is correct as well, featuring a
reproduction mat and a correct spare tire assembly with jack.
We're not positive whether the 400 cubic inch Ram Air III V8 is the
car's original, numbers-matching engine, but it is correct. The
engine is, of course, unmodified, from the correct Ram Air air
cleaner to the Pontiac Turquoise paint to the shiny chrome valve
covers. Reproduction tower hose clamps, a new foam gasket for the
air cleaner, and correct decals are the kinds of little things that
really help when you're looking for quality, and the sucker runs
beautifully with a big hit of low-end torque. It's equally tidy
underneath, with a reproduction exhaust system, nice floors, a
TH400 3-speed automatic transmission, and a proper 10-bolt rear
with a Saf-T-Track limited slip inside. Correct Rally II wheels are
fitted sans trim rings, as original, and wear recent BFGoodrich T/A
radials that ride and handle great.
This is one of those cars that you can't believe still exists
outside of captivity. This is your opportunity to own a highly
optioned, documented, and incredibly desirable GTO Judge at a very
reasonable price. Don't hesitate, call today!
