Vehicle Description
If you missed your chance at the 2005 Chevrolet SSR
pickup/convertible the first time around, here's one last
opportunity. This example has been babied all its life, and so the
bold paint still has a showroom shine. And even the mileage is so
tantalizing low, it's almost like you get to go back in time and
pretend our showroom is the Chevy dealer.
It's not hard to see why this SSR would end up a prized possession.
After all, it was basically like Chevy built you a custom car. With
just 9,843 original miles, it's bone stock and ripe for stashing
away for posterity. Now that over a decade has passed since
production ended, we can really begin to appreciate how the SSR
blended the iconic Advance Design pickups of the 40s and 50s with
modern fender flairs and an aggressive stance. And with a color
like Redline Red, this one really does look like your favorite
muscle machine. In fact, the deep factory gloss of the paint and
the shine of the pristine chrome alloys will make some people swear
this is a custom build. It's this mix of retro pickup and factory
hot rod that keeps this SSR grabbing attention even when you're
just on a milk run.
And just like the best muscle cars, you've got a deep black
interior complementing the red exterior. And, of course, it's all
just as nice as the exterior, because ultra-low mileage also means
very little seat time. But while the appearance is quite retro, the
features are quite modern. More Corvette than pickup truck, the
interior has sculpted leather bucket seats, a color-matched center
console, and every luxury GM could dream up. Features include power
seats, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, keyless entry,
and a thundering Bose AM/FM/CD stereo system that fills the cockpit
with sound at any speed. Touch a button, and the trick folding
hardtop disappears behind the seats - making this the coolest
open-air truck since the Model A roadster pickup of the '30s. Plus,
with ice-cold air conditioning and heated seats, you can stay
comfortable with the top down nearly all year round. The safety
features are modern, too, with everything from front and side
airbags, to anti-lock brakes. While the covered and locking bed is
large enough to carry really big stuff, it's beautifully finished
with carpeting and wood. In fact, it's really just an extremely
spacious trunk that holds everything and is fun to show off.
While all SSRs are V8-powered, not all were created equal. During
the limited run, a later model like this received the 6.0-liter LS2
V8. This numbers-matching, fuel-injected powerplant was shared with
the Corvette, and so the 390hp represented a 30% upgrade in power
over the previous year. In fact, with four-wheel disc brakes,
grippy Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires, and a suspension built more for
handling than hauling, this retro pickup is really a sports car in
disguise. But just like the Corvette, this SSR is also great for
the grand tour. The four-speed automatic transmission has
highway-friendly overdrive and you even have cruise control. So
while the mileage is exceptionally low, we know you won't be able
to resist adding more to the odometer.
Complete with owner's manual and reproduction window sticker, this
is a true survivor that gets appreciated more and more every day.
So if you missed your first opportunity at an SSR, the next best
thing is available right now to the first one who grabs this deal.
