The headline on a print ad for a 1975 Olds Delta 88 Royale
convertible stated, "Today a beautiful Olds convertible. Tomorrow,
a collector's item". The featured car in the ad was a red Delta 88
Royale rag top. The Oldsmobile 88 (known from 1989 onwards as the
Eighty Eight) is a full-size car that was sold and produced by
Oldsmobile from 1949 until 1999. From 1950 to 1974 the 88 was the
division's top-selling line, particularly the entry-level models
such as the 88 and Dynamic 88. The 88 series was also an image
leader for Oldsmobile, particularly in the early years (1949-51)
when it was one of the best performing automobiles thanks to its
relatively small size, light weight and advanced overhead-valve
high-compression V8 engine. This engine, originally designed for
the larger C-bodied and more luxurious 98 series, also replaced the
straight-8 on the smaller B-bodied 78. With the large, high
performance V8, the Oldsmobile 88 is widely considered to be the
first muscle car, although this title is disputed. OUR VEHICLE 1975
Oldsmobile Delta 88 Convertible thats a project. Car is all there
from all interior to motor and trans. Convertible top works and
vinyl top is in good condition. All seats and door panels are there
and in good shape but needs to be recovered. Dash is good with only
one small repair. Front interior needs redone but back is is in
good shape This is a solid platform to build on. . It has the 455
motor and 400 transmission. Has factory air currently not conected.
We believe mileage IS OVER 100,000 Miles. Car is a project for
upgrade that is a driver. Body is good. No rust on majority of car.
Only rust spot and problem is around both rear wheel wells and a
spot on lower front passenger door. Paint has some checking is
several locations. Has all glass throughout and Power Windows that
work and Power front driver Seat that also works Its a very good
