Vehicle Description

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME, NICELY RESTORED, 1971 CHEVROLET C-10 STEPSIDE SHORT BED, GROUND POUNDING, BUILT 350 V-8, AUTOMATIC, POWER STEERING, POWER DISC BRAKES AND AIR CONDITIONING....GREAT STANCE, READY TO SHOW AND GO!!

There is no denying that the 67-72 Chevrolet C-10 trucks have been a hot category in the classic car and truck market for the past several years. If you have been on the search for one of these sweet little trucks you have seen the wide variety of builds that are on the market. This particular '71 C-10 was built by a young man in South Carolina who loved the original styling of the stepside short bed pick up trucks but also liked a little rumble and horsepower in his Hot Rods. Even though he was pretty young, he grew up in a restoration family working at his fathers restoration shop and this was going to be his truck so he took his time and built it with the idea that he would be keeping it for a while. He told me he started with a great little rust free truck he located in North Carolina and then slowly did a frame off restoration that took him close to 2 years to complete as he worked on it in between all of the shops customers cars. Shortly after he completed the build an opportunity to buy a nice piece of property came along that he and his wife wanted to build their first home on. Needing cash to buy the land he made the hard decision to sell the truck. Not something he was happy to do but the next lucky owner will be thrilled. As you will see from the pics that follow he did his best to keep the truck very stock looking, lowering it slightly and adding a cowl hood that give it just a little more aggressive stance. A stance it deserves given the ground pounding 350 V8 he had built by a friend of his who worked on a Nascar team. It is a great blend of original looks combined with the muscle that will plant a smile from ear to ear when you crank it up.

As I mentioned this truck received a professional frame off restoration on a very solid, rust free truck.  I believe the only body panel that was changed was the hood simply because he wanted to add the cowl hood for a more aggressive look. Body panels are extremely straight and overall body panel fit is excellent. Doors close nicely and line up great.  The young man who restored it stayed with the original Medium Blue color on the body and the white roof which I think gives it a great original look. Paint quality is excellent and was wet sanded and buffed to a beautiful smooth finish. The body is near flawless and the only real blems I noticed were a few small chips on the edge of the cowl panel that were touched up and a small hairline scratch also on the cowl on the passenger side that most people would not even notice. All of the chrome and stainless trim was replaced with new and looks great. The truck still has all of the original style marker lights, brake lights etc. which were also replaced with new. Glass all looks great and windows have been tinted. Weatherstripping was replaced at time of restoration. The truck is definitely worthy of the local shows and will win its share of trophies, however keep in mind it was built to be driven and not trailered so it is not a perfect show queen.

Complimenting the Medium blue exterior is a great looking Blue and Black houndstooth interior featuring a great set of bucket seats with center console. I believe these seats may have come from a Chevy Blazer which is common when swapping out the original bench seat for buckets. The drivers seat is adjustable. As you probably know these interiors are about as simplistic as they get. Carpeting was replaced with new and the dash pad looks like new also. Gauges are crystal clear and appear to be working correctly although the speedometer may be reading a little fast. Very nice 3 spoke steering wheel with the Chevy logo was added. Original A/c vents are in place and the air conditioning was updated with a modern compressor running on R134 refrigerant and blows nice and cold. Original AM radio in the dash is not working but you can easily add the stereo of your choice either in the glove box or by removing the AM radio and using a custom auto sound vintage looking system.  Nice center console with cup holders. Seat belts for driver and passenger. Nice set of Chevrolet logo floor mats finish out the interior. As you will see the door jams were painted as slick as the body and a nice set of Chevy logo door sill pates was added.  I think you will see that the interior is just as show worthy as the exterior of this C-10. Behind the cab you will find a beautifully finished oak wood bed with stainless strips for show quality finish.

At this point you might be wondering if this C-10 runs and sounds as good as it looks....absolutely!!! Pop the hood and check out the built 350 V-8 4bbl motor that is estimated at 350 horsepower. The young man who restored this truck had a friend who built motors for a Nascar team and built him a very street friendly 350 with a slight cam for that lumpy tone everyone loves to hear. Edelbrock intake and 4 bbl Carburetor feed the fuel and this motor breathes out a great looking set of ceramic coated headers and through the rumbling dual flow master exhaust for a sweet tone. As they say here in the South this motor hits a good lick!!! Power is transferred to the rear wheel through the smooth shifting Turbo 350 Automatic transmission and the gears in the 12 bolt rear end are very highway friendly. Plenty of power from this set up but also very street friendly. Electric fan keeps it running cool! Driving is quite easy thanks to the Power steering and power front disc brakes. Updated serpentine belt set up with newer style A/C compressor. The drivetrain is believed to have under 2000 miles on it since built. As you will see the engine bay is nicely detailed so you will be proud to pop the hood at the shows and cruise-ins.

Of course the undercarriage is also super clean and nicely detailed. Floors are rock solid and rust free and lightly undercoated. This truck was lowered about 2" all around with lowering springs for a nice, slightly more aggressive stance than stock. Original style 15" Rally Wheels are wrapped in close to new 295/50/15 BFG Radial TA's that lay a great foot print on the road

Make sure you watch and listen to the video that follows to hear this sweet C-10 start up and running!!
