The Fj40 Series Toyota has been a staple of off road dependability
for decades. With durable engines, stout transmissions and a
compact body, they are a do-to choice for an off road adventure.
Introduced in 1960 they came in a variety of body styles and with
different specifications. The durability of the design meant that
the design was produced all the way until 1984 and in licensed
production, all the way till 2001.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this late model 1980 example
for your consideration. Featuring a fetching shade of blue over a
grey interior, this is an eye catching truck. The Exterior paint
work is very solid and shows well with no cracking or peeling. The
contrasting white top is landmark feature of the FJ and looks good
against the darker blue body. The black painted frame is solid and
looks straight. Brand new Centennial M/T Dirt Commander tires are
mounted on black painted 15in wheels with locking front hubs. All
exterior trim is intact and the exterior lighting is all fully
functional. The interior is also very nice with compliant seats
without rips or stains. The instruments are functional as is the
fan and heater. A radio is installed but doesn't seem to function.
The headliner is generally good with a little bit of detachment
around the rear window. All glass is crack free and in good
shape.
The 4.2L engine is in good shape and starts well with no smoking.
It pulls strong and the transmission is easy to use and shifts very
well. Brakes are strong and doesn't have any bias. The truck drives
very well overall and is a very solid driver. While far from a
pristine show car, this big blue Fj40 is an excellent truck that is
ready for some more off road adventures.
