Vehicle Description
This Camaro SS was an unregistered California car from 1978 until
around 2002. It retains the original, born-with 350/295hp engine
that was professionally rebuilt to original specifications (except
for the ARP rod and main bolts and roller-tip rocker arms), and
includes the original VIN stamp and date code. The original smog
equipment is intact and was restored to non-functioning status by
Jerry MacNeish. The original engine components include the voltage
regulator, heads, exhaust manifolds, intake manifold, and
carburetor. The starter, however, is not original to the car. Its
4-speed manual transmission has the correct part number, but there
are no date or VIN stamps on the casing. The rear end is original
to the car but was rebuilt using the original 3.31 gear ratio with
new bearings and seals. The car has front disc brakes that use
restored dual-piston calipers, and the master cylinder is correct
as well. The steel wheels are not original to the car but do have
the correct SS hubcaps and red line bias-ply tires. The underside
of the car was stripped and painted with a low-shine epoxy. The
interior has been restored to original specifications, including
reupholstered seats, a professionally restored original dash, and
restored and calibrated tachometer. The steering column was
professionally restored as well. The original floor pans are in
great condition, as is the trunk and the original metal on the car.
