produce Rolls-Royce automobiles in 1998 many people were concerned
about the future of the marque. They needn't have worried. The
first product of the 'new' Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Limited was the
technological tour de force known as the Phantom. This 2004 Phantom
is over 19 feet of pure luxury and decadence! The foundation of
this beast is a hefty aluminum space frame which supports body
panels fabricated from aluminum and composites. Fully independent
suspensions front and rear are bolted to steel subframes with air
springs acting as computer-controlled dampers with load leveling
capability. Beneath the enormous hood rests a 453hp direct-injected
DOHC 48-valve aluminum V12 that can unleash a seemingly endless
(531 lb/ft) river of torque. As an ultra-luxury sedan, this Phantom
naturally has all of the comfort and convenience items found in
lesser cars. In addition to these, a partial list of features
includes power closing rear doors, rear picnic trays, CD changer,
navigation, heated side windows, front and rear heated seats,
accent interior mood lighting, four-zone climate control, and
