radio In 1956, if you wanted a top-trim Lincoln without going as
far as the $10,000 Continental Mark II, your target vehicle was the
Lincoln Premiere. MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present
this 1956 Lincoln Premiere Coupe. The coupe's pillarless designed
earned it and Lincoln the Industrial Designers Institute Award of
Excellence in Automotive Design. Assembled on May 24, 1956; this
car has recently been professionally refinished the exterior in
Huntsman Red. The lack of traditional B-pillars between the front
and rear side windows serves to highlight the long lines that were
found on all 1956 Lincolns. The rear fender skirts and understated
brightwork add the car's handsomeness, as do the gold accents and
lower drip rails that expand to cover the entire rear B-pillar. The
car's paint is in overall excellent condition and in red, it is
quite eye-catching, however there is some minor scraped trim behind
the passenger side door. The glass panels are in overall very good
order and the car's lights are in excellent condition. This Lincoln
rolls on Remington wide whitewalls, sized L78-15, mounted on red
rims with full factory wheel covers. The tires and wheels are in
overall very good condition. All of the car's body panels are
straight; the bumpers are in overall very good order, except for
blemishes in back. The engine bay is extremely tidy. Under that red
hood is Lincoln's 368 CID Y-block V-8 engine in a highly detailed
engine bay. The engine block and intake manifold are painted light
green while the rocker covers and air cleaner are black. The
rockers bear the words, Lincoln V-Eight.' The engine breathes
through a dual exhaust and is buttoned to a Turbo-Drive three-speed
automatic transmission and a 3.07:1 rear end. Driver convenience
features include power steering, power brakes, power windows and
four-way power front seat. Lincoln switched to a 12-volt electrical
system in 1956. Inside, the new red and black leather upholstery on
the bench seats is in excellent condition. The black carpet, black
headliner and black instrument panel are all in very good order;
even the door courtesy lights still work. However, the horn,
windshield wipers, speedometer, odometer, and antenna are all
inoperative. Design themes of that era put the gauges, warning
lights and clock above the padded dashboard while putting the
switches below the padding. On either side of the four-spoke,
deep-dish steering wheel are levers for the HVAC controls that look
like they were lifted from a jet airplane. The Premiere was
introduced in 1956 as an upscale version of theLincoln Capri. It
featured a 368 CID Lincoln Y-BlockV8and it was approximately 223
inches long in 1956. The top-end Lincoln, it was substantially
different from the much more expensiveContinental Mark IIsold by
Ford's Continental Motorcars division. The Premiere's appearance
reflected the Capri's derivation from the radically different
concept cars, theMercury XM-800and theLincoln Futura. It was
known for a stylish exterior, high-grade interior and some unique
features. Four-way power seats were standard.Front suspension was
independent with a stabilizer bar. Car comes with its original
owner's manual. Competition to this Lincoln in 1956 included
Buick's Series 60 Century Coupe, Cadillac's Coupe de Ville,
Chrysler's New Yorker Newport two-door hardtop, Mercury's Custom
Coupe and Packard's Caribbean Coupe. This car is currently located
at our facility in St. Louis, Missouri. Current mileage on the
odometer shows 19,266 miles. It is sold as is, where is, on a clean
and clear, mileage exempt title. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Click here
