Buick Skylark Gran Sport (GSX Tribute) to its showroom located in
West Deptford, NJ! "In 1970 Buick introduced a performance and
appearance package for the GS455 to make it, what some consider,
the ultimate supercar, the GSX. Inspired by the GTO, Buick created
the GSX for the GS455 as an attention-getter to bring people into
the showroom, but it also gave you everything you'd ever want.
Front and rear spoilers, fat tires and mags, hood tachometer,
rear-sway bar and prominent stripes." In 1971 and 1972, the GSX
package became an option that was available on any Gran Sport.
Production dropped in 1971 to only 124, and again to 44 in 1972.
These numbers include the available 350-4 bbl option, the standard
455, and the Stage 1 engines. Many GSXs survive to this day and can
be seen at the Buick Gran Sport Nationals held annually in Bowling
Green, KY. Now you can own this fine example of American muscle
today! This 1972 Buick Skylark is a real "U" Code car with X trim
added and really pops thank to the awesome Fire Red Paint and crisp
original white interior. This vehicle, priced at $4,278.68, was
built September 1971 and is one of 1,099 two-door GS coupes built!
Sloan Longway Museum documented this great vehicle back in 2010 and
includes a copy of a 1972 wholesale car order for a 1972 Buick GS!
This car underwent a complete frame-on restoration in 2007 with
over $5,200 in new parts including upper and lower ball joints, tie
rods, brakes, calipers, hoses and more! Powering this fine car is a
455CID V8 that roars down the road just like it did back in 1972!
Linked to this powerplant is a Turbo 400 automatic transmission
that shifts with ease! 2 �" dual pipes provide the perfect conduit
