Vehicle Description
Only 18,320 actual miles on this rare D-500 performance model. Same
owner since 1966, he bought from his friend who was the original
owner. It's a true unrestored survivor that has been maintained and
stored in a dry, safe garage. No rust or damage to the body. Has
original paint, sharp colors. Original chrome. Interior is very
nice original. Needs 1 simple repair of a seem on the seat.
Upholstery, carpet, headliner door panels are not worn. Dash area
is very nice, a coupke hours of detailing would make it sparkle.
Original trunk with jack and spare. Motor compartment is very
clean. With Dodge's success at the track they decided to capitalize
and offer a special performance edition to the public. It is said
"it was capable of out running anything it came up against" The
only visual difference were 2 cross flag 500 emblems. But there was
much more then meets the eye. Under the hood was the big 315-260 hp
Hemi with solid lifters and 4 barrel carb. Also included was a
beefier suspension, bigger brakes, upgraded steering and bigger
exhaust. That package on this stripped down base model with a
manual trans made this a factory muscle car. The D-500 broke 306
standing records in 1956. It was equivalent to it's brother, the
Chrysler 300.
This is a rare find. It is on consignment from the widow of it's
owner. We are presenting it in its original condition. A proper
detail can make this car really impressive. The car runs and
functions very well. An independent appraisal was just done at
$36,000. We have negotiated a very aggressive selling price. They
are only original once.I doubt there is a D-500 with less
miles!
