Vehicle Description
Perhaps the coolest aspect of the RestoMod craze is seeing just how
creative some of these builders can be. Blending an intricate
balance of old and new technology, these mechanical masterminds can
turn out some really wicked machines. Take this 1961 Cadillac Coupe
DeVille, for instance. It has successfully combined classic styling
with contemporary comfort, performance and reliability to produce a
truly compelling customization.
This vintage Caddy has so many mind-blowing features that it's hard
to say exactly what catches your eye first, but it would most
likely be the immaculate paint job. The breathtaking Burgundy
Metallic finish completely dominates the appearance of this entire
car. It's deep. It's rich. It's ultra glossy. And it totally
envelopes the long sleek lines of this wide-bodied two-door
hardtop. The paint job isn't perfect, nothing ever is, but the
overall presentation will leave you speechless. The body is very
straight and solid with no noticeable issues. The chrome trim is
all there and in fantastic shape. You'll see some slight fading of
the grille, but nothing is broken and it still shows very well. A
set of fender skirts on the rear add the old school appeal that
reminds you that this automobile is a child of the '60s. Nothing
does a more dynamic job of accentuating the body and paint than an
overpowering wheel and tire ensemble. A set of brand new bias ply
Coker Classics fat whitewalls mounted on true wire wheels make it
absolutely impossible to take your eyes off this car. And the
center caps proudly display the familiar Cadillac emblem as
confirmation of the Coupe DeVille's legendary lineage.
Open the doors and you'll be suitably impressed by the sheer amount
of space and elegance this automobile has to offer. You could
easily turn cruising into a family affair. There's room for
everyone. The seats and door panels have been reupholstered in rich
tan leather, affording you that luxurious look and feel you'd
expect from a high-end cruiser. The comfort level will make you a
little hesitant to get out of this fine ride once you've reached
your destination. You'll just want to sit and relax a bit. Of
course, it's a Caddy, so she's loaded with accessories. Cold A/C,
AM/FM with cassette, power everything... It's all there.
Let's check out the drivetrain. That's where this build got really,
REALLY serious. The original Cadillac running gear was dismissed in
favor of a late model fuel-injected 454 paired up with a 700R4
automatic transmission. That's the kind of powerhouse combination
that will make a big car like this literally sail down the
interstate. The motor itself is basically stock with factory intake
and exhaust manifolds and an electric fuel pump. A Griffin aluminum
radiator keeps the engine cool under the most grueling conditions.
And when it's time to stop, a front disc brake conversion brings
this beauty safely to a halt. Everything about this conversion was
done coorectly; not a single bolt out of place.
The power, pride and pageantry of the past and present are
masterfully showcased in this majestic cruiser. The owner drove it
all the way from Greenville, SC to out Atlanta showroom without
missing a beat. So you know she is definitely roadworthy. This is a
car that was built to be driven and enjoyed, and will win you a
trophy without even trying. Shouldn't that pleasure be yours? Call
