Vehicle Description
One of the iconic models from the immediate post war era, the 1951
Mercury Sport Sedan is thought to be one of the best looking
Mercury of those years thanks in part to its Lincoln inspired
styling.
One thing all three Ford nameplates shared was the famous Ford flat
head V8 engine which was nearing the end of its useful service.
What sets the Mercury Sports Sedan's engine apart is the larger
displacement at 255 cu. in. and different carburation. That flat
head V8 still runs very smoothly in this sedan. Shifting is by a
column mounted three speed.
This striking Maroon four-door sedan underwent a high quality and
complete restoration in 2006. The interior is cloth as it should be
because this car was restored to be totally original. One of the
most interesting features of this Sports Sedan is the suicide
doors.
Thanks to custom car shops and hot rod enthusiast original 1951
Mercury sedans are hard to find in this condition.
