While we have attempted to photo document* the conditions under
good lighting the overall condition of the unit would be in our
assessment a "Barn Find" being "driver or hobbyist" level of
condition and in no way should be considered a "Completely
Restored", " brand new"or "Concours d'Elegance" level car. *
Very unique car and exceptional candidate for full restoration or
studio, vent/wedding venue photography. While the exterior finish
shows well, here is crazing and obviously some imperfection
considering its age. The body is overall very solid with
preservation contributable to its storage in California. The
exterior chrome is in varying levels of condition. While some show
signs of age/pitting other areas like the bumpers are exceptional.
The Rover Viking ornament is intact and very unique We have been
advised the front tag is a genuine original period plate The
updated hood release reveals the 6 Cyl engine also converted to
electric fuel pump which cranks and runs smoothly with no smoke.
While certainly to be expected, we have noticed very limited signs
of leaks in the form of the occasional drip / spot. There some
components in need of new fusing or repair, however the primary
operational electrical systems i.e. Headlamps, markers, turn
signals, horn etc are operational. While most gauges work the dash
lighting is dim or non-operative most likely due to the aged dimmer
switch and/or bulbs. We do not believe the fuel gauge to be
accurate. The center clock glass needs to be removed and cleaned.
We have not attempted to operate the heating / ventilation system
and the vintage Motorola radio we assume is a tube radio and at the
time of this listing our tech has not attempted to power it up. The
genuine wood frames, door and dash panels are in overall very good
condition and have obviously not been stored where subjected to
severe sunlight. The interior upholstery, while overall as shown in
the images, t is, gain, hat we consider a "driver"level of
condition with areas on the door panels and one rear seat side
(image 19) showing areas of cracking, touchup and /or previous
repair. Considering the outstanding condition of the loop pile
carpeting, wood trim etc our recon team initially scheduled the car
for reupholstering but later decided to leave it for the end user
as it is acceptable as a driver and or the choices of color or
materials could be determined by the owner should they decide to
make improvements. The trunk loop pile carpeting is also in
exceptional condition and the car includes the jack, lug wrench,
owner/Operation and Shop Manuals as well as an amazing vintage
Rover tool kit.
In summary of the condition we have detailed above, s we specialize
in late model exotics our knowledge of the P4 is limited. Further,
his car in particular having been owned by a retiree, tored for
years with very few records and with limited knowledge of its
history does not afford us the ability to make any applicable
assurances outside of the obvious Make/Model and visual conditions.
It is a very interesting car and draws a great deal attention at
our Atlanta store. However, lease review our disclosures re
conditions to circumvent unrealistic expectations of a pristine or
flawless car. Customer satisfaction is a very high priority and we
have attempted to adequately describe this vintage car. This being
said, if you are a perfectionist expecting this to arrive as a
pristine or restored car please do not bid. Sale includes
additional parts etc including an original washer tank/glass, misc
parts/tools, nother matching tire/spare and its pan/covering not
pictured.
