Daihatsu is the oldest car manufacturer in Japan. Starting in the
1900's and still in business today. Marketing for the Trimobile
started in the late 50's offering cheap movement of freight in
large cities, great fuel economy and a 899 pound payload capacity.
This is an American model, they differed from other markets.
American models had an "A" stamped in the VIN. Other markets had a
"MP" some markets refer to them as "Tuk-Tuks".
Also the American version had a split rear window and a crane
incorporated in the hood emblem. The Trimobile was manufactured
from 1959-1963 with three wheels and after 1964 was made with four
wheels for safety reasons. With a 305 two stroke speeds may reach
45 MPH. They wear street legal with suicide doors, side curtains,
and a moon roof, which most micro cars had for the simple reason if
you were involved in an accident you could climb out the top.
This Trimobile has 545 miles, Yokahama Tires, and floor mats all
believed to be original. Information on the Daihatsu is very
limited as are the numbers exported to America. Estimates range
