For Sale: 1940 Chevrolet Master in Bridgeport, Connecticut

For sale is my 1940 Chevrolet Master 85 two door sedan.  My first car, I bought this Chevrolet Town Sedan 40 years ago in the spring of 1978 on Long Island, N.Y.  I drove it off and on until I had a complete sixteen month, no expense spared, body off frame, completely taken apart and rebuild restoration performed from September 2007 thru December 2008.  Over $60,000 spent-I have all receipts...about 100 miles per year since resto completed, about 1000 miles...frame sandblasted, painted with black epoxy paint...all steel body stripped to bare metal, all rust areas cut out and replaced with reproduction steel panels, rear fenders replaced with NOS steel fenders out of Colorado...painted dark blue mica metallic, a 2007 General Motors color(#5963)...paint is beautiful (including engine compartment) and sheetmetal is flawless...underside painted black semigloss...wheels same color as car with reproduction hubcaps and trim rings...there is no rust on this car...runningboards are recovered and perfect...bumpers are reproduction, originals go with car...original straight 6 216 cubic inch, 85 horsepower engine rebuilt by Car Quest Automotive, Michigan...original head found to be cracked-replaced with correct head...6 volt electrics...car starts right up if used frequently...three speed on the column...suspension front and back rebuilt...transmission gone through...vacuum shift unit installed and working...all new brake lines...brake rebuild kit comes with car...new fuel lines and gas tank...rebuilt sending unit...all gauges work...all lights work...new wiring harness...beautifully restored radio (comes with car, not installed)...Offenhauser aluminum valve cover...has dual Carter YF carbs topped by K&N air filters...Offenhauser dual intake and Fenton dual headers into true dual exhaust...have all the original intake and exhaust parts...tires are 2008 Lester 6.00X16 WWW with a spare set of four wheels with tires (from 1980)...dashboard and window moldings wood grained and beautiful...all chrome done and stainless polished...heater and defroster work...vintage amber B-L-C 5 3/4" foglights...NOS wiper arms and blades included, not installed...new Bedford Cord seat kit from LeBaron Bonney installed...car runs strong and stops very well...happily cruises at 55 MPH, have gone faster...comes with cover, reproduction 1940 shop manual, 471 page 1929-1942 master parts price book, restoration book, Chilton's Auto Repair Manual 1940-1953, Manual for Chevrolet Owners from 1952, and promotional materials...$17,000 firm (less than one third of the cost of restoration).  Car is located in Bridgeport, Connecticut.  Email [email protected] or phone/text 917-370-0344.  No calls after 9 PM Eastern, please.
