Vehicle Description
Stk 2305 1973 Norton 850 Commando
The Norton Commando is a British motorcycle produced by the Norton
Motorcycle Company from 1967 until 1977. During its ten years of
production, the Commando was popular all over the world. In the
United Kingdom it won the Motor Cycle News "Machine of the Year"
award for five successive years from 1968-1972. The owner of our
850 Commando has possessed this classic for the last 25 years. It
shows 8,800 km on the clock and is all-original with the exception
of the tank that was beautifully repainted Ebony Black with gold
trim in 2017. The 828cc OHV parallel-twin engine has never been
rebuilt and generates 60bhp. It is old-school kick-start and has
the hemi-type heads as did all Norton OHV engines since the 1920s.
The dry-sump motor is fed by dual 32mm Amel concentric carburetors
and mated to a 4-speed transmission with right hand shift and
Triplex chain drive. Braking is hydraulic front with a 10" disc and
manual rear with a 7" drum. The frame is a double cradle design
that utilizes Norton's 'Isolastic' engine/suspension mounting
system to reduce vibration. Front forks have hydraulic dampening
and the rear swing arm utilizes dual shocks with progressive
dampening and manual preload. Dry weight of the Commando is only
430 lbs. and the seat height is 31". Without question, this
unmolested Norton 850 Commando is a very rare find. It belongs in
your British bike collection.. ALL VEHICLES SOLD " AS IS"
