For Sale: 1964 Datsun 1500 Fairlady in Concord, North Carolina
The Mazda Miata was not the first car to take the British roadster
appeal and add in reliable Japanese components. This 1964 Datsun
Sports 1500 Fairlady offers plenty of vintage style in a speedy and
nimble roadster package. And when you realize that something this
rare and complete is also so affordable, you'll instantly fall in
love/lust with this deal.
Japanese car fans know to get excited when a Fairlady becomes
available. The 1500 model was only available for a couple of years,
and Datsun only officially used the Fairlady name for this series
in the USA. But beyond its history, you want this roadster because
it's a true class act. Red is always a desirable color, and the
sheetmetal on this one looks terrific. That's why you get to
appreciate all the details - from the hood scoop to the subtle
tailfins. The overall presentation looks like the best of Europe,
but it came from the engineering minds at Nissan/Datsun.
Just like the exterior, the interior has all the right original
charm with a few subtle upgrades. For example, the bucket seats
follow the factory pattern, but they've been recently recovered for
a fresh appearance that now includes nicely coordinated red piping.
In fact, this feels so correct, you still get transverse jump seat
in the rear. But the real reason you want this is for the driving
experience. You get a three-spoke steering wheel with old-style
Datsun logo on the horn ring. This is fingertip close to the
four-speed gearstick - just like in the tradition of your favorite
British roadsters. Ahead of that is the full original gauge package
that includes a large speedo and tach. Everything in the dash is so
original that even the AM radio still works! And for those few
times the days are gray, the factory hardtop gives this roadster a
nice hardtop profile.
More of this original appearance with upgrades happens under the
hood, too. The motor looks great with its correct Datsun valve
cover, but it's hiding a secret. You're looking at a later and more
powerful 1600cc powerplant (lovers originality will be happy to
know that the original 1500 motor also comes with the sale, too.)
This is the heart of the Fairlady's appeal. Datsun offered a more
reliable and more powerful engine than most of its English
competitors. So you have a motor that fires up easily, purrs with
that perfect roadster exhaust note, gives the perfect nimble
feeling, and is reliable all the way through your favorite Sunday
drive.
Complete with owner's manual, you're looking at an opportunity to
own something rare, distinctive, and quite fun. So when this total
package is also so affordable, you know you need to hurry to grab
this deal. Call now!
