For Sale: 1973 Volkswagen Thing in ROWLETT, Texas

Vehicle Description

Wow, you will love this THING!

Up for sale is a very cool 1973 VW THING. It's a rare THING indeed, a four door convertible! You don't see THINGS like that every day. The Germans designed this THING back in World War Two for general purpose transportation of military personnel along the same lines as the original Army Jeep.

The THING about THINGS is they are so ugly they are cute, sort of.

Another THING about it is that it is a blast to drive. This THING has a souped up motor and an exhaust system that makes this wild THING sound really fast. And this THING has been thoroughly sorted mechanically with new brakes, bushings and a tune-up. The oversized EMPI alloy wheels and all terrain tires give this THING an aggressive stance and another THING, the rear mounted engine gives this THING excellent off road traction, if that's your THING.

This THING shifts nicely through all four gears and doesn't pop out of reverse like so many of these THINGS. With the built up motor this THING cruises at 70 without straining and with the fresh suspension parts and a rebuilt steering box the THING tracks straight and handles true, some THING you might not expect of a THING.

What has not been restored is this THING'S body, the paint is still shiny on the THING but it has its shares of dings and scratches. The good THING is there isn't much rust on it and that makes this THING a better THING than any THING that is all rusted. One THING that makes this THING rare is it has a fiberglass hardtop. I put a fresh paint job on the top and removed the windows to give it that open air effect. The windows can be added and the rubber seals to put them back on the THING are included. The top is light weight and can be lifted off easily. This THING also has a roll bar that provides the occupants of the THING a safer ride than a THING without one. The interior on the THING is in great shape and all the gauges and lights work as they should on the THING.

This THING does not have a folding soft top. The THING does come with its original side curtain windows but they will need to be restored before you put them on this THING because the THING is, is that the once clear plastic windows are now as far from clear as the THINGS can get. The THING to consider about the top and windows is that I have owned four of these THINGS and have never driven one yet in the rain on purpose. The darn THING is a four door convertible for Pete's sake (who is Pete?); wind in the hair, sun in your face, everyone waving and giving thumbs up to you in your THING. The open air hardtop does the same THING except for the sun in your face part.

If you don't like attention then don't even THING about buying this THING

So finally, here is the THING; I have had my fun in the THING and am ready for the next guy or gal to experience what this THING is all about. Another THING, these THINGS are becoming very desirable to stuck up snobby collectors who are willing to pay a lot of dough for these silly THINGS. So, if you buy the THING, it's like an investment. You can probably read about that in the book "THING and Grow Rich".

This THING is located in Rockwall,Texas and is offered as is where is. If the ad is up this THING is for sale. Please no low ball offers or scammers because I really don't like those THINGS. Call, text or reply if you want to talk about this THING.
