Introduced in 1997, the Volkswagen New Beetle was a small compact
car based on the Golf chassis that drew heavy inspiration to the
Beetles of old. With round headlights, a curved greenhouse and a
smiling face, the New Beetle really brought back the retro craze.
While the original Beetle featured a rear mounted air cooled engine
and RWD, the New Beetle was FWD, front engined and thoroughly
modern. With cute and classic styling and an affordable price, the
New Beetle became an instant success.
GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1998 New Beetle for consideration. Finished in a nice shade of red over black cloth interior. The exterior is in very good shape for a nearly 20 year old car and has done just 74k miles. The car is one owner and they claim to have garaged it for the last 16 out of 19 years. We rarely have high end collector cars with more documents than this Beetle. Every service and bit of work has been meticulously filed away and documented. The car is well equipped with auto-up power windows, power locks, ABS, stereo with cassette and 6-disc CD changer, heated seats, cruise control and air-conditioning. In addition to all of the other service work, the owner says the A/C compressor was replaced in 2016 and the cold air confirms that. The car has very little wear on the interior and you would hardly know that this is a nearly 20 year old economy car that gets 26mpg!
While the styling might not be for everyone and the color matched flower in the dashboard is a bit over the top, you can't deny that this New Beetle is one solid vehicle for a bargain price!
