Introduced in 1998, the 996 generation of the venerable 911 was a dramatic departure from its predecessors. A whole new chassis, water cooled engined and significant electronics were the biggest differences. While fast and capable, many enthusiasts lamented the changes and the 996 has become one of the least like Porsches in history. Despite enthusiasts complaints, the 996 sold well and was still an excellent performance car. While air-cooled models have stratospheric prices and newer examples are just as pricey, the 996 represents a bargain of modern performance, classic heritage, and lower prices.

The factory 18in twist spoke alloy wheels are presentable but have some curb rash. Massive drilled rotors are squeezed by sharp looking red calipers. The 4S trim brought the bodywork, wheels, tires, AWD, and suspension from the much more expensive Turbo model. The interior is in great condition with very little wear and tear. The seats are rip and stain free and are very supportive. The car is equipped with power seats, power windows, power locks, CD changer stereo, cruise control, power sunroof and much more.

The 320hp 3.6L H6 is powerful, smooth and has the great Porsche exhaust rasp. It is mated to the 5-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission which is smooth and quick. The car drives very well and handling is out of this world. These are becoming bargains in the Porsche world as the older model are skyrocketing in price and the new models are already high in price. This one has had lots of service work done with receipts including a new thermostat gasket, new alternator, new water pump, serpentine belt, headlight switch and new battery.
