For Sale: 1969 Cadillac Coupe DeVille in Lithia Springs, Georgia

Vehicle Description

Hard to go wrong with almost 19 feet of Cadillac convertible, in a great color no less! If you want to get noticed, be the center of attention, and pretty much look like you have the world at your beck and call, nothing delivers the message better than a vintage Cadillac ragtop like this 1970 DeVille.

Looking at the price, you can be forgiven for thinking this is some worn-out beater, but you'd be incorrect in your assumption. The beautiful dark blue paint isn't totally correct, but it is fresh and looks pretty darned good and if you're looking to make a grand entrance in Vegas, this is your ride. The finish is shiny enough to get noticed, and while it isn't perfect, a dark color is always a smart choice on a vintage Cadillac convertible. Finish quality is decent, with signs of age and use and a little orange peel here and there, but nobody will notice any of that as you cruise by, a one-car parade. Cadillacs are known for fins and chrome, and this one has both, from the pontoon-shaped front bumpers that are in great shape to the pointed taillights out back that leave no question as to what kind of car this is. Is it perfect? No. But it has just the right patina to suggest a casual lifestyle that embraces the good things without sweating the details. And check out the cool spotlight on the A-pillar and the oversized bumper guards neat accessories from a day long past.

Dark blue leather works well with the dark blue paint, giving this car a grown-up look that doesn't look like it's trying too hard. Matching blue carpets, nice original door panels that retain the original woodgrained inserts, and the dark blue dash pad all look quite good with minimal evidence of UV damage and the usual cracking. Of course, almost everything was standard in your 1970 Cadillac convertible, from power windows and locks to A/C to a six-way front bench seat. The 1970 Cadillacs also had a very cool wrap-around instrument panel that pretty much gave the driver exclusive use of all the controls, and it's all easy to reach. The original AM/FM radio is still in the dash (it works!) and a brand new blue canvas power convertible top makes it look very upscale and includes a glass rear window that eliminates the worry of hazy plastic curtains. The cavernous trunk is pretty clean and includes a full-sized spare tire with its own cover.

Cadillac's 472 cubic inch V8 make locomotive-like torque, easily propelling the big DeVille with authority. They're also indestructible low-RPM engines that never feel like they're working very hard, and thanks to good maintenance throughout its life, this one runs quite well indeed. With a 4-barrel carburetor on top, it gets off the line easily, but where it's really at home is interstate cruising, where there's no better way to travel. The engine bay is well-kept if not detailed, and service access is surprisingly good compared to the Eldorado convertible that would follow. A TH400 3-speed automatic spins a heavy-duty rear end that looks like it belongs under a giant truck rather than a luxury car, and the suspension is in good order so that incomparable '70s Cadillac ride is part of the package. Custom wire spoke wheels give it a lowrider vibe and carry right-sized Firestone whitewall radials.

Big and flashy, this Cadillac delivers an A-list celebrity experience at a bargain-basement price. With lots of new work, an attractive color combination, and that luxurious ride, this is a huge bang for the buck. Call today!
