Vehicle Description
The Jaguar E-Type is one of the best known cars in the world. The
series one is also considered to be the prettiest of all the
models. First introduced in Geneva in 1961, the E-Type took the
world by storm and, with its sleek lines, beautiful twin cam
straight six-cylinder engine and performance to match, soon became
nearly every school boy's (and adult's) dream car. Early sportscar
racing success at the hands of Graham Hill and Roy Salvadori
amongst others helped cement its reputation. Built as a monocoque
with a front sub-frame to cradle the engine, the model's
combination of all-round independent suspension, rack and pinion
steering and four-wheel disc brakes gave it excellent road holding
and handling capabilities. Fed by triple SU HD8 carburettors and
topped with a 'straight port' DOHC cylinder head, its indomitable
3781cc, straight-six engine was quoted as developing some 265bhp,
all this was allied to a four-speed Moss gearbox, it reputedly
enabled the E-type to sprint from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and onto
150mph. This Jaguar was dispatched to the USA in September 1966 and
repatriated to the UK in September 2014. In 2004 she had an
extensive restoration to near concours standard and has benefitted
from additional work carried out by the vendor recently, resulting
in an E-Type of the highest quality. She has had a full engine
rebuild together with the gearbox, carburettors and rear suspension
assembly. In addition to this she also has an upgraded water pump
and higher velocity radiator and a Kenlowe fan. The Carmen Red
paintwork is to a superb standard which is complemented by the
black leather interior. With panel gaps that are perfectly uniform,
it is easy to describe this Jaguar as magnificent; however viewing
is strictly recommended to ascertain the true quality of this
E-Type. Having been professionally converted to righthand drive
this aesthetically beautiful example is one of the best we have
seen. Supplied with a V5C registration document together with a
Heritage Certificate and current MoT test certificate valid until
17th May 2018 together with a comprehensive history folder, this is
an opportunity to purchase a stunning piece of British motoring
Heritage. For sale by auction on Saturday 23 September 2017 with
