Vehicle Description
With a name reminiscent of the 500 Mondial racing cars from the
1950s, the Ferrari Mondial was a replacement for the Ferrari
308GT4. It was the first Ferrari where the entire
engine/gearbox/rear suspension assembly was mounted on a detachable
steel sub-frame, making engine removal for a major rebuild or
cylinder head removal much easier than it was on previous models.
The Mondial 8 is considered one of the marque's most 'practical'
vehicles, due to its 214hp, proven drivetrain, four seats and
relatively low cost of maintenance. The later Quattrovalvole or QV,
introduced a new four valve cylinder head, the combustion chamber
design was purportedly based on the early eighties Formula One
engine and produced a very respectable 240hp. One of just 152
Mondial Quattrovalvole coups made to righthand drive
specification, chassis 51265 is finished in Rosso Corsa with Nero
black leather. First registered on 18th May 1984, A437 0DY comes
with original handbook as well as a new leather owner's pack and
various additional paperwork. This incredibly low mileage example
(less than 21,000 miles) supplied by Ferrari specialist, Joe
Macari, can be verified by the comprehensive MoT test certificates
found in the history file. A full service was also concluded
approximately 500 miles ago by Powerbell Services in Berkshire.
Presented in good order, with solid history, these mid-engined
Ferraris are very much in vogue at the moment. For sale by auction
