Vehicle Description
The Italian performance and racing car company was founded by
Austrian-Italian Carlo Abarth and Italian Armando Scagliarini in
Turin in 1949. Abarth were later known for producing various tuning
kits for road vehicles, mainly for Fiat. Today, genuine Abarth
motor cars and performance parts are sought after by collectors
worldwide. This delightful Abarth recreation is presented with the
attractive colour combination of a dark blue coachwork and
contrasting red trim. Originally registered in Italy, this 500L was
exported to Ireland in the spring of 2011 where the Abarth
modification works were carried out. The engine, a 650cc unit, has
an Abarth rocker box and sump and is mated to an all-synchromesh
gearbox. Further additions include an Abarth steering wheel, alloy
wheels with new tyres and Abarth style flared steel wheel arches.
Other works carried out at this time include new brake system,
wheel cylinders and final drive half shafts. The Fiat was then
imported into the UK in the beginning of 2017 whereby the
registration authorities inspected it and subsequently approved the
UK registration on 1st June 2017. Importantly, the correct chassis
and engine numbers, as well as the 650cc capacity, are recorded
upon the UK V5 registration document. On inspection of the car, the
recent full body re-spray looks resplendent and benefits from a
folding/sliding sunroof for those sunny days. The interior is in
very good order throughout and includes a Panasonic radio. On a
recent test, the 500 drove very well; the larger 650cc engine
coming into its own whilst the braking system pulled it to a halt
in a confident manner. The accompanying file includes the original
Italian registration and certificate of ownership documents, an MoT
test certificate valid until April 2018 and various invoices. The
original 500cc engine, steel wheels with tyres, steering wheel and
alternative performance exhaust are also supplied with the car. As
well as looking very pretty, this little Abarth is also somewhat
practical with the larger engine, and takes up very minimal storage
space - we anticipate keen interest at the sale. For sale by
