Vehicle Description
Karl Abarth had a good head on his shoulders and his fingers on the
pulse of the youth. During the 1950s, he built performance exhaust
systems and other parts for Fiats using his Scorpio birth sign as
the logo for his company. The natural progression of evolvement
into a car manufacturer in his own right was only to be expected.
The Fiat/Abarth arrangement benefited both concerns since it
resulted in the many class victories that his cars captured in
competition. Abarth introduced his 695 version in the summer of
1963 based on the Fiat 500 as per usual, it was visually similar
with key differences found in the mechanical upgrades that pushed
its top speed to over 90mph. These cars were distinctive, eminently
tweakable' and enormous fun. Recently imported from Turin where it
has underwent an engine overhaul some 5,000km ago, it benefits from
full Abarth 595 specification including engine, synchromesh
gearbox, brakes, exhaust, suspension, dash, dials, decals and
bonnet straps. Both bonnet and engine have rubber racing strap
fasteners and the engine cover is slightly open to aid cooling in
true Abarth style. The interior is black with Abarth dials and
gauges and an Abarth sports three-spoke steering wheel. Supplied
with a fresh MoT test certificate and fully UK registered, this is
surely proof that great things come in small packages. For sale by
