Vehicle Description
The Pontiac Firebird was built by the Pontiac division of General
Motors between 1967 and 2002. The Firebird was introduced the same
year as its platform-sharing cousin, the Chevrolet Camaro. This
coincided with the release of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, which shared
its platform with another pony car, the Ford Mustang. The Pontiacs
were, for the most part, powered by various V8 engines of different
GM divisions. While primarily Pontiac-powered until 1977, Firebirds
were built with several different engines from nearly every GM
division until 1982 when all Pontiac engines were dropped in favour
of corporate units. The fourth-generation Firebird amplified the
aerodynamic styling initiated by the previous generation. While the
live rear axle and floorpan aft of the front seats remained largely
the same, ninety percent of the Firebird's parts were all-new.
Major improvements included standard dual airbags, four-wheel
anti-lock brakes, 16-inch wheels, rack-and-pinion power steering,
short/long-arm front suspension, and several non-rusting composite
body panels. Throughout its fourth generation, trim levels included
V6-powered Firebird, and V8-powered Formula and Trans Am.Offered in
Fire Red with black trim, this well kept V6 engine Firebird is a
manual example and largely untouched and in original condition.
Showing just over 49,000 miles, we are informed this car recently
drove through France and performed impeccably. Offered with a new
MoT valid until August 2018 with no advisories a good example of
American muscle without the V8 fuel bills. For sale by auction on
