Vehicle Description
A technological tour-de-force, this 2008 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 is
an incredible piece of hardware, and if there was ever a car that
could be considered a screaming bargain, this is it. Equipped with
a lengthy list of expensive Porsche options, plus a GT3 body kit
and 3-piece wheels, this extraordinary performance car is available
for about half its original cost.
There aren't many better colors on a Porsche than silver, which
seems to emphasize the car's German precision and icy cool
effectiveness, as if going fast were no more challenging than
filling up with gas. Porsche's finish quality is legendary and
aside from a little scuffing on that low-low chin spoiler, you'll
be hard-pressed to find any signs of wear or deterioration on this
incredible Carrera 4. It's quite exceptional. The GT3 body kit
makes the classic 911 shape all the more aggressive, with a deeper
chin spoiler, a revised rear fascia, and a cool wing that channels
air over the engine compartment to increase downforce. All the
badges and emblems have been neatly removed save for the Porsche
crest on the hood, but I'm guessing that nobody needs to read a
name plate to identify this particular car. That's what driving an
icon gets you. Things like the headlights, mirrors, and taillights
are also virtually like new, suggesting that this 911 has led a
very easy life.
The charcoal leather interior seamlessly blends performance and
luxury in a way that only Porsche seems to manage. If you wanted,
you could drive this car to work every day and never know that
there's almost 350 horsepower on tap. The seats are unmarked, the
carpets look new, and it carries rare silver seat belts that are
something only Porschephiles will understand. This one also carries
a 6-speed manual gearbox, the preferred choice for enthusiasts who
like to stir their own gears, and the list of options is rather
lengthy. First there's the navigation system that integrates with
the entertainment system, plus all the usual stuff like automatic
climate control, power windows, locks, and mirrors, a power
sunroof, and the grippy leather steering wheel. White-faced gauges
are arrayed in traditional Porsche fashion, bit the tachometer
front and center and you'll have to work hard not to be distracted
by the lovely French seams on the instrument panel. The
forward-mounted trunk is like new and offers reasonable
accommodations for your gear.
The 3.8 liter flat six engine was rated at 325 horsepower. The new
4-wheel-drive system that is the '4' in Carrera 4, offers
sophisticated traction management that makes the rear-engined car
incredibly stable; you have to do something intentionally foolish
to get in trouble with this car. The 6-speed manual is a joy to
shift and actually offers a higher top speed than the PDK, and
you'll never get tired of the big six's tenor howl at speed.
Massive brakes have been a Porsche trademark for years and are
completely resistant to abuse and repeated high-speed stops and
come dressed with bright red calipers and cross-drilled rotors.
Gorgeous 3-piece alloy wheels are a scary expensive upgrade and
carry ultra-low-profile 235/30/20 front Michelin Pilots and very
new 305/25/20 rear Pirelli PZero Nero radials.
Beautifully built, outrageously fast, and with a look that'll be
stylish forever, this Carrera 4 is more proof that Porsches truly
are special cars. Call today!
