"In May 1969, a Chrysler product planner conceived the Dodge
Challenger T/A; it was born nine months later, on February 12,
1970, Dodge had to make 2,400 Challengers T/As for civilians to
support one SCCA racing car. Starting with a Challenger Highline
(JH23), the A53 Trans Am package had a special 290 horsepower 340.
Carrying a unique "J" VIN prefix, the engine had increased webbing
in the mains, valvetrain revisions, and the ubiquitous trio of
troublesome Holleys residing on an Edelbrock intake manifold."

For sale by the long time owner (since 1979) is this rare
Challenger T/A. This is one of only 1,410 produced with the 3-Speed
Slap Stick transmission confirmed by the original build sheet.� Not
a body off restored show piece, but a combination of well kept
original with some cosmetic and mechanical work done over the
years. The odometer reads 63,600 miles and is documented by past
service history. The 340 engine has been rebuilt along with the
automatic transmission. It was repainted the original Mango Orange�
in the early 80's and is showing it's age and both rear quarter
panels were replaced at the same time. New seat covers were
installed along with a new vinyl top. It has power steering, power
front disc brakes and an AM radio.
