For Sale: 1961 Chevrolet Corsair in Arlington, Texas
The Corvair without a doubt has a special place in automotive
history. From the stories about Ralph Nader to the fact that it is
the only American designed mass produced car to use a rear mounted
air cooled engine, the car definitely made its mark in the history
books. Combining Corvette and Bel Air, Chevrolet named their sporty
affordable passenger car the Corvair. This Corvair is the higher
trim level Monza and one of the nicest examples of these cars we
have seen. It looks great and drives extremely well. We have driven
many Corvairs over the year and this one is much tighter and
smoother than most. The body is in great shape with no rust issues
or damage. It is coated in a nice Red paint that has a great shine.
The stainless trim and chrome work is all in great shape with no
pitting. The glass is all good and the front windshield has a nice
tint. From the double front headlights to the louvers in the back
everything is as it was originally. It rides on original wheels and
hubcaps with thin white wall tires.
In back sits the air cooled 2.4L 2,375cc flat 6 cylinder motor. The
engine compartment is very clean and it is obvious the car has been
well cared for. Everything is painted in its factory Black for a
nice clean look. A spare is mounted in the back as well. The motor
starts up well and has no smoking or issues. The car recently sat
for a few months and all it took was a few pumps on the pedal to
get the engine roaring back to life. The motor is combined with a 4
speed manual transmission that shifts smoothly. If you don't know
how to drive a stick then have no fear because this would be an
ideal car to learn on.
If there is one thing we can talk about more then how well it
drives it has to be the interior. We are unsure how long ago it was
redone but it has to have been redone sometime in the past because
it is just that nice. The Black upholstery work is in great
condition and from the headliner to the carpet it doesn't have any
really weak areas. The dash is nice as well with all of its factory
components which are working well. The trunk of the car up front
has been coated with a liner to protect it from any rusting issues
and houses the brake master cylinder and jack.
If you are in the market for one of these cars then you really
don't want to pass this one up. It is one of the nicest you are
going to find and because of that we are sure it won't be up for
sale for long.
It is not very often you can purchase a car of this quality for
$11,500.00
