You won't see many of these, especially like this one. This
fun-to-drive TVR 2500M is one of only 947 ever built. But not only
is it a rare car, it is also in exceptional condition with only 49k
miles, brand new paint, and working air conditioning! It's a really
a fun ride. With its lightweight construction, tubular chassis, and
reliable TR6 drivetrain, it is a very enjoyable drive.
This two-owner 1977 model represents the last year of production
for the 2500M. It is an attractive, sporty car with some classic
design elements. The M series combines a tubular steel frame with
fiberglass body panels for a strong but lightweight platform. This
solid example has seen neither rust nor collision in its lifetime.
It wears brand new paint along with its original vinyl top with
"Sunshine Roof" sunroof. The original rubber bumper pieces have
been replaced with earlier chrome-style pieces done in polished
stainless (looks like chrome but will not pit or rust). The
clamshell front end is pretty neat too. The wheels are original
with good P195/70R14 tires all around.
As a 2500M, this TVR was equipped with a Triumph TR6 drivetrain
from the factory. The 2.5L inline-6 engine and 4-speed gearbox are
well suited for this British sports car, keeping things light,
simple, and responsive. The carburetors have been recently rebuilt
and the clutch master and slave cylinders replaced. There is also a
spin-on oil filter adapter. Also an auxiliary electric cooling fan
has been added to keep from overheating. Brakes are front disc /
rear drum and have no problem stopping this light car, especially
with the new master cylinder and new front calipers.
The tan interior is in remarkable condition. The seats, door
panels, dash, and center console all look great. The carpet has
been replaced. All instruments, gauges, and indicators are
functional. Same with the horn, wipers, and lights. It has a
vintage Blaupunkt AM/FM/cassette stereo that sounds decent. And of
course there is the cold air conditioning! Try to find another
2500M that even has an a/c system, much less one that works. I also
have the original owners manual, warranty statement, insurance
card, and miscellaneous receipts.
This is a very rare offering. That is, a low-mile two-owner TVR
2500M in terrific condition, complete with new paint and air. It's
a British sports car that offers a rewarding driving experience in
the spirit of Morgan, Morris, Sunbeam, and the like. And I'd be
willing to bet you'll have the only one at your next car show.
