Vehicle Description
1957 Buick Roadmaster Sedan
Sold on a Bill of Sale Only. It does not have a title.
Roadmaster! The very name conjures up images of a big, powerful
highway locomotive - which is just what Buick intended. And that's
just what the Buick Roadmaster really was from 1936-1958 - and
again to a considerable degree, for 1991 and 1992.
For consignment and looking for the person who has vision and loves
cars. This '57 Roadmaster needs lots of TLC, some frame
straightening and strengthening then you can get to the real work
on the body. The positive side, you will then be the new owner of a
real classic, considered one of the nicest offering from any of the
Big 3 for this year.
Exterior
A long time ago some bodywork was attempted and abandoned but
during that time the vents on the front quarter, and sections of
the body were worked, in that they were stripped and sprayed with
primer. This work did not play out on the either side as invasive
rust has taken over on the doors, and the lower part of the rear
door. Chrome is mostly there save for the rear quarter swoop spear
on the passenger's side. The front bumper resides in the passenger
compartment, and all chrome will need a thorough re-plating.
Interior
Again, your creative mind will be left to run wild in here. The
original pallet was shades of green used in broadcloth, and sprayed
metal, plastic and felt fabric forms. Dual benches stretch from
door to door, the dash is original and appears to have all knobs
and switches intact.
Drivetrain
A 364ci V8 with a single 4-barrel atop and a 2-speed Dynaflow
automatic transmission has been installed. A 3.07 axle is on the
back. It is unknown if it is the original powertrain that came with
this car from the factory. NOTED this engine did not start or crank
so we can classify it as inoperable.
Undercarriage
A look underneath and where that damage is on the doors has also
invaded the frame, and the frame was bent in the incident where the
passenger front sustained its damage.
An ambitious project, or simply for original parts needed for
another restoration, either way pieces frozen in time ready to be
rejuvenated and enjoyed again.
