investment! Aston Martin introduced the V8 platform in the early
1960's to be more competitive against its rivals. By 1978, it
became obvious to Aston Martin that the United States consumers
were eager to have convertible sports cars, a body style long
aborted by many US manufacturers due to enhanced safety
regulations. This spurred the introduction of the Volante
Convertible, which was hand built for 12 years, ending in 1990.
Only 650 units would be produced, equaling about 50 production cars
a year, just one per week. Constructed of an aluminum body and
reinforced steel frame, it was said to near equal in weight to its
coupe counterpart. Returning to the interior for the first time in
two decades would be a burled wood dash and trim veneer to enhance
the luxury feel, along with new power-operated features like
outside mirrors and folding soft top. The suspension was enhanced
to become a solid, road-hugging sports car utilizing coil spring
Koni shocks up front, anti-sway bar with twin wishbone control
arms, and coil-over rear suspension with Watts linkage and
lever-action shocks. Four-wheel servo-assisted Girling disc brakes
can be found at all four corners! A delightful car to drive, both
for its performance and quality ride! Offered here is a 1984 Aston
Martin V8 Volante Series I Convertible finished in special ordered
Portland Blue with matching soft top with a stunning Burgundy
leather interior! Powered by its number's matching 326ci 5.3L V8

June 1984 being special ordered for its original West Palm Beach,
FL owner. It stayed it his possession, used only sparingly, for the
next 25 years. It then sold to New York collector and sports car
enthusiast Daniel Zarr who immediately had the car inspected and
serviced by Aston Martin authorized Long Island Sports Cars based
in Roslyn, NY. Upon arrival, it was recommended to fully clean and
rebuild the entire fuel delivery system to ensure it was clean and
free of deteriorated fuel and any contamination. The fuel tank was
removed, cleaned & reinstalled with fresh hardware, fuel pump &
bracket, filler neck & cap, new sending unit & gasket, rollover
valve & gasket, and vapor tube. Then, all four Weber carburetors
were disassembled, fully cleaned all jets & passageways, and
rebuilt with new gaskets & seals, and fully tuned with a gas
analyzer to set correct fuel mixtures to factory specifications
balancing all carburetors equally. The transmission received a
fresh pan gasket and all new fluid. The entire cooling system was
flushed multiple times including the block and reservoir to ensure
it was totally clean. The water pump was replaced for good measure,
with thermostat & gasket, all coolant hoses & clamps, and filled
with fresh coolant. The ignition system was next and treated to all
new components including spark plugs, factory plug wires,
distributor cap, rotor, timing set, all new drive belts, new air
filter element, and 20W-50 engine oil and DOT4 brake fluid. The

this was completed in October 2014, and driven just 400 miles
since! It has been fully tested and continues to operate as new
