Vehicle Description
The mid-80's were one colorful time. With its unabashed flashiness,
this 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible is a great
automotive example of its era and holds the opportunity for you to
pick up an unquestionable 80's conversation piece.
The '84 Biarritz marked the return of the Eldorado Convertible
after a long hiatus and it was clear Cadillac wanted to make an
impact, as it has some serious flair to it. Its Light Royal Blue
color is almost understated, but combined with the pinstripes on
both hood and trunk and running down the considerable length of its
sides it's certainly attention-getting. The paint retains a
convincing shine that brings this convertible into the present with
vigor. That long hood and the long doors give it a sort of visual
connection to an earlier decade, but with a certain geometric
refinement very much of its own time. When viewed from the front,
its rectangular headlights and prominent grille give it the
appearance that it's staring down oncoming traffic, like Clint
Eastwood when things are about to get real. From that distinctive
grill in front, to the paneling lining the sides below the doors,
to its ample front and back bumpers, the chrome and brightwork are
looking good and fresh. Drop the white, power convertible top and
tuck it into the low boot behind the back seat and you'll admire
its sleek profile. This is a car you can definitely see yourself
cruising around in.
Step inside and you see an interior that's equal parts cool and
decadent. Throughout, there's white upholstery, ornamented with
blue trim and buttons, that very accurately reflects the
fascination with flashy luxury of its time. The split bench front
seat makes it look like a seat of ultra-wide buckets sitting side
by side with an opulent, almost sofa-appearance that radiates
comfort, a look amplified by the additional padding sewn on in
front. The seating really pops out at you, contrasted by the deluxe
deep blue carpeting, a factory option, that sits underneath. On
both sides, the white door panels with their wood inserts, complete
the look - all about comfort and luxury. Equipped with A/C,
AM/FM/Cassette (you KNOW you have tons of them stored away), power
seats, power windows and a steering column that both tilts and
telescopes, it's a functional luxury. As you'd expect in a car so
reflecting the influence of technology, you'll notice that the
instrumentation is almost entirely digital. No swaying needles,
just iridescent, cool blue LED readouts. Load up your passengers
and have no fear running short of luggage space. That immaculate
trunk, lined with matching luxury carpeting, will hold a LOT of
suitcases.
This droptop is powered by Cadillac's 4.1 liter, fuel injected V8,
paired with an electronic 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission
that will drop the RPMs markedly at highway speeds for better fuel
economy. It sounds plenty healthy and both runs and idles as
smoothly as you could want. A brand new battery sits beside it to
provide a sense of confidence as you turn the key. Its power
steering and four-wheel power disc brakes are nice modern-day
features to go along with this Eldo's nostalgic looks. The stock
Cadillac rims are wrapped in brand new Vogue tires, so there's
miles and miles worth of rubber waiting for you to hit the road
with.
