The 1940 DeSoto sales logo stated: Were a Long Way from being
Millionairesbut Were Having the Times of Our Lives in the one 1940
with 39 new features Missing is 2-3 or 4 year-old cars. This slogan
reflected the strike DeSoto suffered at the beginning of the 1940
production year. The company came back with an improved DeSoto
design that included Chryslers Fluid Drive which allowed the car to
start and stop without using the clutch. Sales jumped from 11,000
units to 65,000 units, slightly more than the 1939 DeSoto
model.This is an excellent example of the 1940 De Soto convertible.
It is an all original car that was purchased new in California.
Over $80k was spent on the restoration. This car has won several
awards and is now a retired Trailer Queen.Exterior is black with a
black convertible top. Paint, chrome, and trim are all in top
condition.Interior is burgundy with a black painted dash. All
interior components present in very good condition.Engine is the
original 6-cylinder paired with a 3-speed manual transmission with
column shift. Car runs and drives with excellent performance.This
