For sale in our Chicago showroom is this very capable 1962
International Harvester Scout 80. With a fuel-efficient 152
cubic-inch inline-4 cylinder backed by a 3-speed manual
transmission with overdrive and 4x4 capabilities, this is a
do-it-all kind of vehicle! The transmission is actually fairly
uncommon, as it has a gear reduction box allowing you to split
gears, essentially giving you a 4th "overdrive" gear, making
cruising on the highway a total breeze. Get stuck in some sludge?
Lock the hubs, drop it in 4-low and crawl out of anything. With a
full recent restoration, this cream-colored beauty is as much a
pleasure on the eyes as it is on the road (or off it, for that
matter!) The original buyer on this vehicle ticked some uncommon
boxes on the order sheet. The first of which is the previously
mentioned overdrive unit. The other makes this a much more
enjoyable ride in the colder season, and that is the under-seat
mounted heater. The Scout was always a rather basic vehicle,
essentially a steel box with 4x4, so there isn't too much
insulation. Having this heater makes for a much more enjoyable
transport in early spring and late fall, not to mention winter!
With a capable chassis, a fuel efficient engine, and sinful good
looks, this is a great vehicle to add to any collection. Options
include: Manual Convertible Top, Seat Belts, Raised White Letters,
and a Vinyl Interior. For more information on this beautiful 1962
