For Sale: 1972 Pontiac GTO Convertible Tribute in Lutz, Florida
A great complete and custom build of the car you always wanted to
have. That's how you should view this 1972 Pontiac GTO Convertible
tribute. With its performance-built 455 V8, custom interior, and
upgraded suspension, you'll soon realize that the affordable price
is just the cherry on top of this total package classic.
If you like Chevys, you call this paint Hugger Orange; but if
you're a Pontiac person, you know this is Carousel Red. It is one
of the most iconic colors from the GM palette, and it is exactly
how you want a performance Pontiac to look. Of course, it doesn't
hurt that its awesome gloss is courtesy of a recent professional
respray on a super-straight body. But getting a GTO right takes
more than just the perfect paint. The large hood scoops, hood pins,
quad exhaust tips, and large color-matched rear spoiler all give
this the aggressive attitude you expect from the legendary GTO
name. And everyone will love seeing the special Year One alloys
that take the iconic Rally II wheel design and make them larger and
wider. This is an amazing looking classic, but we should really
understand what it took to get us here. Those who know Pontiacs,
know there was no GTO convertible in 1972, but there was a droptop
with very similar packaging called the Le Mans Sport. Complete with
the optional Endura front end, it's a dead ringer for a GTO in
convertible form. Best of all, a code D67 car like this is rare -
less than 3,500 were produced in '72.
While this already feels like a very thoughtful build, it gets even
better with the touch of a button. The white vinyl top
electronically lowers to reveal a custom interior that coordinates
so nicely in white and red/orange. But thanks to black carpeting,
you don't have to worry about dusting off your shoes before hopping
in and going for a drive - after all, that's the whole point of a
cool classic like this. You get all the best muscle car features
like bucket seats, a center console, and a Hurst His & Hers
shifter. Plus, more great factory features are still in place like
the AM radio (display) and air conditioning. The machined aluminum
panel for the lower dash is even correct. But when it comes to the
driver, you have an upgraded package that includes a wood and
chrome Grant GT sports steering wheel. And while we love the new
VHX gauges w/digital odometer and clock, we are especially happy to
see this one also retains Pontiac's iconic hood tach.
When you lift the hood, the tidy presentation will make you feel
like you've just bought a new car. More than just look great, this
is a powerful 455 cubic-inch V8 that's been rebuilt with plenty of
performance upgrades. This includes a Quick Fuel four-barrel
carburetor, Edelbrock intake, Edelbrock Performer aluminum heads,
and a Pertronix Flame Thrower ignition. And while the growl of the
dual exhaust will easily remind people there's a tiger under the
hood, there's much more to this droptop. This one has been upgraded
with a tubular A-arm front suspension, thick sway bars front &
rear, and four-wheel disc brakes. That makes for an exceptional
handling package. Add in the three-speed automatic transmission,
power steering, and modern Firestone Firehawk tires, and this is an
impressive all-around cruising machine.
This package offers you big power and tons of charisma. It's the
perfect turn-key muscle machine, and it's available right now for
an exceptional price. That's why you know you need to hurry if you
want to take it home. This vehicle does have a rebuilt title. Call
