Vehicle Description
One of the greatest gauges for collect-ability is rarity combined
with a great story, and this 1990 Ford Mustang LX convertible "7-Up
edition" has exactly that. So when you can find a great V8 droptop
with true distinction, and it's this affordably priced, then you
know you're looking at a special deal.
The legend of these 7-Up cars was born out of a special promotion
by the soda company. Dark Emerald Green and white roofs were a
special package intended for an NCAA sweepstakes. But the program
was canceled at the last minute, but Ford liked it so much, they
offered it as a special package for 1990. It's believed that only
about 4,100 convertibles were built (around 3% of total Mustang
production.) Its rarity makes this one instantly desirable, but
there's much more going here, too. It has been given a professional
respray over its lifetime, which adds more luster back to this
sunshine-friendly droptop. And this one has all the right premium
features for the time - from the luggage rack on the trunk, to the
15-inch turbine-style GT wheels. Also, don't forget about the
history. 1990 was the Mustang's 25th year, and so these limited
edition convertibles are often treated as the unofficial
anniversary edition vehicles.
The power soft top folds down to reveal a white interior. So this
special package has the great green and white combo no matter if
you're buttoned up or open to the world. The Mustang's bucket seats
were some of the most comfortable of the era, and they include leg
bolstering for long-haul comfort. Not only are these excellent
seats covered in white leather in this special edition car, but
also yours power adjusts to the perfect driving position. If this
Mustang LX sounds like a great luxury grand touring machine, then
you'll also appreciate features like cruise control, power mirrors,
power locks, and the factory premium AM/FM/cassette stereo. It even
has provisions for desirable features like power windows. While
this one comes with the security of a driver's air bag, it doesn't
block the view of the full gauge panel, including the large speedo
and tach.
The 5.0-liter electronic fuel-injected V8 under the hood is the
reason the Mustang was the pony car of choice for an entire
generation. Great sound, bulletproof performance, and impressive
torque made it into a legend. So on a classic like this, we are
quite pleased to have it looking so factory-correct, and in fact,
we believe it to be original to the car. This is mated to a
four-speed automatic transmission, which is also believed to be
original. So you've got the perfect total package that combines
great power, overdrive cruising, and nice driving features like
front disc brakes.
Complete with plenty of 7-Up memorabilia to go with the legend,
you're looking at great cruising convertible that has huge future
potential. So at a price like this, the only way you can go wrong
is if you miss out on this deal.
