Year 1961, Plymouth introduced a dramatic re-design of its
ostentatious Fury of the year prior. Most notably was the removal
of the massive tail fins, "stabilizers" as they were called in the
sales literature. The new Fury was lower, sleeker, and carried a
more futuristic design. The rear deck lid now flush with the top of
the rear fenders with more subtle rocket style tail lights fixed to
each side, with full stainless steel belt trim surrounding the car
still gave the 61 Fury a prominent look.
