Vehicle Description
This is the classic dream truck. If you always wanted to find a
near pristine example of a vintage pickup, here it is. This 1979
Ford F-100 Custom Cab has an amazingly original presentation, and
it does it with great features like V8 power, four-on-the-floor,
and air conditioning.
You just don't see trucks like this anymore. 1979 was the last, and
arguably the best, year for this classic style of the F-100 pickup.
The medium light blue is factory correct, and we suspect it's
original. It retains a nice gloss and shine, which gives a warm
feeling of an F-Series truck of an even older vintage. Plus, all
the highly stylized chrome trim combines with the paintwork to make
this one an instant classic. But despite it having a '50s style
color and chrome, the younger age means this truck still has a lot
of practical daily use left in it. In fact, look inside the bed.
It's obvious whoever had this pickup before cared about it enough
to be careful when loading. Still want more reassurance of the
superior level of care? Just a take a look a how clean and straight
every piece is, from the body panels, to the fender wells. It still
even has the factory wheel covers!
Trucks can often feel a bit drab inside, but not this one. The
exterior attitude is carried over with a sky blue brightening up
the interior. It starts with the bench that has plenty of stylized
stitching, and more importantly, comfortable cloth for everywhere
you sit. The carpets, door panels, and headliner also feel much
more luxurious than just a workman's vehicle. There's even a bit of
wood paneling on the dash and steering wheel just to continue this
appearance of pickup indulgence. Just like the exterior, this one
has a high degree of originality, and that continues on everything
from the AM radio to the air conditioning that's blowing cold.
Take a look under the hood and you'll know this is a
survivor-quality blue oval. The 302 cubic-inch V8 is believed to be
original and does not appear to have been fussed with over the
years. It has averaged under 2,100 miles annually, and so
everything from the bright pie dish air topper to the factory
decals gives this a presentation that's barely worn-in. Even the
jack is still mounted in its original strap! So while you might not
have thought about buying this to show off, be prepared to grab a
lot of attention. Still, deep down this is a workhorse. The V8 has
plenty of grunt to make light work of any task you throw at it.
Plus, the four-speed manual transmission means you have the best
control over the full powerband. Add in power steering, front disc
brakes, and Ford's twin I-beam front suspension, and this is also a
fantastic cruiser.
This sale comes complete with all the right documentation for a
survivor, including the original window sticker, warranty card, and
buildsheet. It started life as a premium pickup, and thanks to a
