For Sale: 1974 MG MGB in Fredericksburg, Virginia

Vehicle Description

A Rare Find—a National Show-winning, fully-restored Steel Bumper MGB

Of the MG B series, none are more coveted than the steel bumper cars. This 1974 is one of the last of that series. This car has achieved Senior status and proudly wears the badge as a National First Prize Winner awarded by the Antique Automobile Club of America. One look at this car shows you why:

  • Full restoration
  • Exceptional paint
  • Interior as original
  • 1798 cc motor in fully-detailed engine bay
  • Fully synchronized transmission
  • Soft top that may never have been erected

They don’t get any Nicer!

It is not an overstatement that these “B”s don’t get any nicer:

  • Paint and Chrome

The White paint is a beautiful finish on this car and is in excellent condition. The paint gleams and shows off this sports car’s great lines.

All of the chrome is in excellent condition.

The body and underside of the car are free of rust, the underside is almost as clean as the topside, and the engine compartment is fully detailed.

  • Interior

The Tan seat upholstery was all redone and looks like new. The door panels and carpeting are in show condition as well.

The convertible top has probably never seen rain and it may have never been put up! The boot cover looks brand new.

  • Engine

The 1798 cc engine runs and drives like a new one. It starts right up and purrs while it is waiting to be shifted into gear.

  • Transmission

The 4-speed synchromesh transmission shifts properly and smoothly as one would expect in this famous marque.

  • Tires, Brakes, Luxury and Monitoring Systems

The BF Goodrich Silvertown 5.60 x 14 bias ply blackwall tires speak to the effort to keep the car “as original.” The tires look virtually new and the spare has never been on the ground.

The brakes—front disc/rear drum work properly and smoothly in bringing the car to a rapid and safe stop.

All of the engine/systems monitoring gauges/lights (temperature, fuel, amp and oil pressure) work properly. Similarly, the lights, horn, wipers and turn signals all work as do the tachometer and speedometer.

A MGB that looks like a Show Car and Drives like a Dream Car!!

One would have to look far and wide to find a nicer MGB than this one. Whether at a national or regional car show, dinner at a special restaurant or a night out for ice cream, you can be assured that this car will be noticed and admired by everyone who sees it.

These original cars represent not just a great driving experience but a sound investment as well. Apart from the investment value of this car, it is hard to put a price on the feeling of enjoyment when other drivers and pedestrians wave and give you a “thumbs up.”
