Hello fellow Mercedes enthusiasts!!! I am an ex bmw tech,
longtime car guy. i love all the 80's german stuff. i am fortunate
to have some cool cars (2 e30 m3, e28 m5, w125 500e, 250c, several
porsche 911 air and liquid cooled, bla bla). but i can't keep them
all haha. i have performed a lot of maintenance on this 420, all
fluids, new battery, 8 new injectors ($600 alone). i believe it is
one of the nicest examples on the market at this time.
Here we have a pretty MINT classic, long wheelbase w126 S Class.
These generation cars are some of the best engineering, materials
and build quality Benz has ever offered.
Beautiful, and some say 'Presidential' color combination. White
with burgundy full leather looks great on these. Car is ALL
ORIGINAL paint and interior surfaces (carpet, seats, dash etc). the
exhaust system is relatively new (still has MB stickers).
This car looks like it has 34k miles, super clean inside, outside
and underneath. no rust! Runs, shifts and drives wonderfully. Lots
of power, smooth shifts. cold air conditioning. All electrical
features (windows, sunroof, etc) work as designed. the radio does
not work (there is power to it, but it doesn't turn on). i haven't
messed with too much as most likely it will be replaced with a more
modern unit)
as with most 420's, this is not a neglected/deferred maintenance
'beater'. it is a spectacular example that allows one to get into
the vintage Mercedes collector market for not crazy money. anyone
would be proud to show up at their local cars and coffee/cruise
night in this super sedan.
browsing several online classifieds sites (Hemmings, Ebay, etc) I
see nice examples listed in the low to mid teens. i have priced it
fairly at $10500. i have all the keys, manuals, factory tool kit
and such. Come check it out!
