Up for sale now in our Houston showroom is this 1971 Buick Skylark
Convertible. The Buick Skylark model was made in six production
runs, for 46 years, over which the car's design varied dramatically
due to changing technology and tastes and new standards implemented
over the years. Created to mark Buick's 50th anniversary, the
Roadmaster Skylark joined the Oldsmobile 98 Fiesta and Cadillac
Series 62 Eldorado as top-of-the-line, limited-production specialty
convertibles introduced in 1953 by General Motors to promote its
design leadership. This second-generation Skylark convertible has
been transformed to look like the ultimate Buick, the GSX. The GSX
was Buick's answer to Pontiac's GTO Judge, Oldsmobile's 4-4-2 W-30,
and Plymouth's Hemi Cuda. This Skylark is equipped with the same
455 CiD V8 that came in the GSX that has been rebuilt with all new
internals, balanced & blueprinted & features Fastlane Motorsports
fuel injection system that has been tuned to the car. That monster
of a V8 has only 2200 miles on it since the rebuild and it is
paired to a 3-speed automatic transmission that has also been
rebuilt and it shifts smooth and gives the car a sweet driving
experience. The transmission has a stall speed torque converter
installed on it for quicker launches. The car is shown in very nice
yellow paint with matte black stripes on the side & of course the
GSX hood with the stripes streaking down it. The body is in very
good condition, straight & true. The bumpers, grill, trim, &
emblems are also all in great shape. The car sits on its factory
Buick 14-inch two-tone wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich tires with
plenty of tread left on them. The convertible top new to the car,
the car does not have the hydraulics hooked up so the top is
currently manually operated, but can be converted back later if
desired. The interior has been recently redone with the black vinyl
seats (very comfortable), door panels, carpet, & dash are in like
new condition. A small gauge cluster under the dash holds 3 gauges
for engine management (oil pressure, battery voltage, & water
temp). This GSX has a very cool feature called electronic exhaust
cut outs that allows you to open the exhaust at the headers with
the push of a button you will hear each & every power stroke of the
engine when you want some noise! When you would like a quieter
ride, you push the button again and it will close and flow out the
tailpipes. If the car was not loud enough when you wanted it to be
you also have a rocking stereo system throughout the car, featuring
Kenwood CD player head unit that controls the JL Audio 1000 watt
5-channel amplifier that powers all the mid/high range speakers in
the cabin of the car while also pushing the two 12-inch JL 12W3
subwoofers in the trunk. The car has undergone some recent service
maintenance items have been performed on the car such as; new fan
clutch, new 4-core aluminum radiator, new water pump, new control
arms bushings, new idler arm, center link, tie rod ends, new
heavy-duty clutch, new bands, resealed rear differential, new
pinion axle seals, new axle bearings, new radiator & heater hoses,
small items as well, & much much more. Other notable features
include; power brakes, power steering, CD player with custom sound
system, leather interior, seat belts, & more. For more information
