Vehicle Description
For sale in our Denver showroom is a 1979 Petrol Blue European Spec
Porsche 930 Turbo Carrera. The car offers the original engine which
has been fully rebuilt and upgraded for the 1989 Turbo upgrade. The
Porsche 930 is a sports car built by Porsche between 1975 and 1989,
known to the public as the 911 Turbo. It was the maker's
top-of-the-range 911 model for its entire production duration and,
at the time of its introduction, was the fastest production car
available in Germany. Porsche began experimenting with
turbocharging technology on their race cars during the late 1960s,
and in 1972 began development on a turbocharged version of the 911.
Porsche made its first and most significant changes to the 930 for
1978, enlarging the engine to 3.3 liters and adding an air-to-air
intercooler. By cooling the pressurized air charge, the intercooler
helped increase power to 300 HP(DIN); the rear 'whale tail' spoiler
was re-profiled and raised slightly to make room for the
intercooler. Porsche also upgraded the brakes to units similar to
those used on the 917 race car. This 930 Turbo Carrera was
federalized to be 50 state emission legal. A custom Catalytic
Converter was made when it was federalized. The odometer reads
40,850. The engine and transmission have both been rebuilt and
upgraded to handle the 1989 turbo upgrade performed by Kevin Roush,
or Gas Motorsports, Upland CA. Details include: 911 SC camshafts,
upgraded blow-off/bypass valve system, upgraded intercooler
(Kokeln: K-29Specs), upgraded chain tensioners, B&B steel
headers, and converted to 1989 Turbo specs with 950-5 (5) speed
limited slip transmission, Porsche racing synchros in all five
gears, (European naturally aspirated close ratio set), upgraded
hydraulic clutch, upgrade power brake booster, upgraded rear sway
bar carrier to accept 50-5, custom made Fuchs/BBS wheels (machined
