Please note a sale is pending on this car. We expect it to close in
late November and will update our site at that time. -- One of the
rarest and most collectible Triumphs is the TR250. These combine
the classic Giovanni Michelotti design of the TR4 with six cylinder
power and independent rear suspension of the TR6. To many
collectors, the TR250 (called TR5 in the U.K.) represents the high
point of Triumph sports cars. Unfortunately, these cars were prone
to rust, particularly in the rear section of the frame. As time
goes on, it becomes more difficult to find a good solid car like
the one here. The body is very straight and solid. The frame is in
great shape without any rust issues as evidenced by the photos.
Since these photos were taken, our shop has undertaken correcting a
few cosmetic faults. We've sandblasted and painted the hood on top
and bottom. We're detailing and painting the engine bay. We'll be
painting the original silver TR250 fender and hood stripes as well.
A small paint chip on the boot lid will also be addressed. The
improvements are nearing completion and we'll be posting new photos
soon. In the interior, we're replacing the lower dash pad below the
instruments as the current one has a gouge visible in the photos
We're also installing a new steering wheel. Otherwise, interior is
quite decent overall with seats, carpets, and door panels all in
good order. The dash wood is in very nice shape with no
delamination as is often the case. The top is a correct canvas top
and in good shape. Mechanically, the is equipped currently with two
Weber downdraft carburetors but we're replacing those with a pair
of rebuilt original Strombergs. If the buyer prefers, we'll include
the dual Weber setup. The brightwork remains presentable as well.
Both front and rear bumpers are straight and shiny. The front
fender marker light chrome is good and while the taillight housings
have some very light pitting on the chrome. This car runs strongly,
with no smoke, very good oil pressure, normal temp range, and good
brakes and steering. All the electrical works as it should.
Overall, this car will make a fun driver that you can enjoy from
the outset with no work needed. For more information contact Mike
