WELCOME! Evolve Motors is pleased to present this 1984 Chrysler
LeBaron Turbo Convertible! Of the 109,793 Chrysler LeBarons
produced for the 1984 model year, only 8,275 were Mark Cross
Convertibles. The Mark Cross package, which equipped these cars
with an opulent leather interior, was an $860 option at the time,
$2,180 in today's money. We like this car for a number of reasons.
First off, it's unmistakably 1980s. The gold paint with brown
pinstripes, the digital dash display, Chrysler's voice
communication system, and the fact that there is no shortage of
Turbo badges all scream early 80s luxury. We're fond of cars that
are out-of-the-ordinary, and this car is certainly that. We
purchased the car from a gentleman in Montana, who drove the car
frequently and maintained it well. The previous owner even
installed a block heater with an electrical plug in the front
grille, so that he could warm the motor before starting it on cold
days. Exterior: First off, paint. Gold paint with brown pinstripes
is original and shows nicely, with just a couple minor signs of
age. There is some slight clear coat fade on the hood (see close-up
photo of hood slats), in addition to some minor chipping on the
lower front bumper and side mirrors. Body in in very nice shape;
there are no significant dents or scratches, just a couple light
door dings scattered about. Pinstripes are perfectly intact and
look good. All glass and lights are clear and crack-free. Powered
convertible top is in excellent shape, with no damage or stains.
Wheels are decent, with no damage but some slight oxidation.
Interior: The interior is undoubtedly the high point of this car.
It's easy to see where all that extra money for the Mark Cross
package went. Leather seats and door panels are extremely soft and
well presented, and the color of the leather is a brilliant light
mahogany that looks like it belongs in a corporate executive's
office, rather than in an 80's Chrysler. Brown leather contrasts
very well with the faux wood panels inside the door panels and on
the dash, which show no cracking or peeling. Dark brown carpeting
is in excellent shape throughout, with no stains or tears. Seats
show very little wear, with just one small scuff on the driver's
outer bolster. Powered systems are all functional: power windows,
powered top, locks, AM/FM/Cassette, wipers, wiper sprayers, heat,
defrost, air conditioning blows cold, cruise control, and all
lights/signals inside and out. These cars have a digital dash
display, which is entirely functional. Digital odometer reads
136,633 miles, and can be swapped to km with the push of a button.
This car also has Chrysler's voice communication system, which we
get a kick out of. When you shut the car off and go to get out,
it'll say "don't forget your keys", then when you remove the key
it'll thank you. It will also let you know when fluid levels get
low, or when a door is ajar. Under the Hood / Underbody: This
LeBaron Medallion Coupe retains its original 2.2L Turbo Inline-4
and 3spd automatic transmission. Odometer reading of 136k is
accurate. The car runs and drives very, very well. It starts right
up first turn, idles cool and steady, and tracks nice and straight
down the road. Brakes feel very good, with no hooking in either
direction. The car pulls through the gears nice and smoothly, and
turbo-lag is negligible. Suspension is extremely forgiving, which
is great on these pothole-ridden Chicago streets. Underneath, the
car is in really nice shape. There is absolutely no through rust.
All structural components are rock solid. DOT number on the tires
indicate they're from 2007, and there is about 90% tread rema
